World Plumbing Day 2013

Okay, it’s honest hour everyone. It’s time that we pull back the curtains to our soul. We open up our closet and let our skeletons come crashing down on our floors. Are you ready to admit to your inner demons? Okay, then on the count of three let’s say it together:

1-2-3

We-Are-Wasteful.

It’s true, and you know it. We are wasteful, it’s in our genes. From our electric use to our gas consumption, we are a resource burning, plastic using, water wasting culture. It stinks, plain and simple, because sadly we have no idea we are even doing it. We take our amenities for granted. Especially our running water. In some developing countries plumbing is either non-existent or very basic at least. The lack of clean water in these regions can result in serious health problems, even death. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, over 1.1 billion people do not have access to safe water supplies, and over 3.1 million children die each year from water related diseases.

Okay, so what do we do from here? Do we hop in our car, turn on the AC and throw some fast food wrappers out the window? Or do we take some simple steps to help solve this pandemic? We personally prefer to choose the latter.

So, in honor of World Plumbing Day on March 11, 2013, we propose some simple steps you can take to reduce water waste in the world.

Go Low Flow:

The shower head you have at home probably omits 2.5 gallons per of water or more out of your pipes each minute. Do you really need that excessive amount of water pumping out of your pipes each minute? Of course you don’t. Switching to a Low Flow Shower head will both save precious gallons of water  from being wasted each minute and also save precious dollars from escaping from your wallet.

In fact, according to Watersense, if every home switched to a Low Flow Showerhead in the United States, we’d save $2.2 billion in utility bills and more than 260 billion gallons of water each year.

Now there is this rumor going around that Low Flow Showerheads offer a less pleasurable experience than non Low Flow Showerheads. Well that is just a bunch of baloney. Speakman’s line of Low Flow Showerheads offer the same high-quality performance as all of our other featured showerheads while mechanically reducing water output.

Below is our list of all of our Low Flow Showerhead options:

Okay, so on March 11th, make some changes to your lifestyle, go out and grab a Low Flow Showerhead, turn your sink off while you’re brushing your teeth and stop taking selfies in your bathroom mirror, because well, it’s just silly.
